Trading DNA — your personal performance analysis

What Trading DNA is, how it unlocks, its analysis sections, and how your insights compound over time.

What is Trading DNA?

Trading DNA is a personal performance analysis engine built into HRT. It reads your anonymised trade history and uses Claude AI to identify patterns, tendencies, and behavioural risks in your trading. Over time, as your trade history grows, the analysis becomes more accurate and more actionable.

The underlying philosophy is that understanding your own patterns is as important as understanding the market. Most trading edges are eroded not by market inefficiency but by systematic behavioural mistakes — entries at the wrong point in the volatility cycle, exits driven by anxiety rather than logic, stake escalation after losses. Trading DNA is designed to surface these patterns objectively.

How it unlocks

Trading DNA unlocks progressively:

  • Preview (20 trades): After 20 completed trades, the Preview version unlocks. This uses Claude Haiku to run a lighter-weight analysis across your trade history. It provides an overview of basic patterns and some early observations on risk behaviour.
  • Full (50 trades): After 50 completed trades, the Full version unlocks. This uses Claude Opus and runs a comprehensive multi-section analysis across your entire trade history. The depth of insight increases substantially.

Navigate to /trading/dna to access your report. The report is regenerated on demand — click Refresh Analysis to run the latest version against your current trade history.

The analysis sections

Overview

A summary of your trading activity: total trades, win rate, average profit/loss per trade, and an overall characterisation of your trading style (e.g. scalper vs swing trader, back-heavy vs lay-heavy, pre-race vs in-play).

Splits

Performance broken down across multiple dimensions: by race type (Flat/Jump), by price range (favourite, mid-field, outsider), by time of day, and by market liquidity tier. Splits reveal where you perform well and where you underperform.

Patterns

This section identifies recurring behavioural patterns in your entry and exit timing. Examples might include: consistent over-eagerness in the first 5 minutes of a market, a tendency to exit winning trades too early, or a pattern of holding losing trades too long.

Risk

An analysis of your risk behaviour: stake consistency or escalation, liability management, how often you trigger stop-losses, and whether there is evidence of tilt — stake escalation and overtrading following losses.

Trend Charts

Visual representations of your profit/loss over time, broken down by rolling periods (last 10 trades, last 50 trades, all-time). These help you see whether your performance is improving, plateauing, or deteriorating.

How insights compound over time

With 20 trades, the analysis is directional — early observations based on a small sample. By 50 trades, meaningful patterns begin to emerge. By 100–200 trades, the analysis becomes genuinely predictive of your future behaviour based on your established tendencies. The AI explicitly notes sample size limitations in its commentary, so you always know how much confidence to place in each observation.

Trading DNA does not compare you to other users. It analyses your own patterns in isolation. There is no leaderboard and no benchmarking against others.
