Understanding the interface

A tour of the three-panel trading terminal layout, the top bar, and the mobile tab navigation.

The three-panel layout

The Horse Racing Trader terminal uses a three-panel design on desktop:

Race Navigator (left panel)

The Race Navigator lists today's racing card. Each race entry shows the venue, race name, scheduled off time, a live countdown, and the current status — OPEN, IN_PLAY, SUSPENDED, or CLOSED. Click any race to load it into the ladder. The Navigator also shows total matched volume for each market, giving you a quick read on liquidity before you open a race.

Ladder (centre panel)

The ladder is where you execute trades. It shows 17 price rows for the selected runner, with the BACK side on the left and the LAY side on the right. Above the ladder are runner tabs — click a tab to switch between runners in the same race. The stake selector, order history, and position summary also live in this panel area.

AI Intelligence (right panel)

The AI Intelligence panel displays output from the active AI engines for the current race. It is divided into sections corresponding to each engine. When an engine produces output, it appears here with a timestamp. When no output has been generated yet, the panel shows the status and next expected trigger for each engine.

Mobile layout

On screens smaller than the desktop breakpoint, the three panels collapse into a tabbed interface accessible from a fixed bottom navigation bar:

  • Races tab — the Race Navigator
  • Trade tab — the ladder and order controls
  • AI tab — the AI Intelligence panel

Switching tabs preserves your state — if you are watching a runner on the ladder and switch to the AI tab to read a brief, your ladder position is still active when you switch back.

The top bar

The top bar is present across all pages. It contains:

  • The HRT logo, which links to the terminal home.
  • A connection status indicator showing whether your Betfair account is connected and the market data feed is active.
  • A user menu (your initials or avatar in the top right) which opens a dropdown with links to Settings, Help, and Sign out.

The user dropdown

Clicking your avatar in the top right opens a menu with:

  • Settings — account details, Betfair connection, subscription, trading preferences, and risk limits.
  • Help — the help centre (you are reading it now).
  • Trading DNA — your personal performance analysis (unlocks after 20 trades).
  • Strategies — the 16 trading strategy library.
  • Sign out — ends your session.

Settings pages

Settings are organised into sections reachable from Settings in the user dropdown:

  • Account — email, password, display name
  • Betfair Connection — connect, disconnect, reconnect
  • Subscription — plan status, trial info, add/update payment method, invoices
  • Trading Preferences — default mode, ladder display options, AI panel settings
  • Risk Limits — stake caps, daily loss limit, streak protection, tilt detection
