What is Horse Racing Trader?
An overview of the platform, who it is for, and how it differs from other Betfair trading tools.
What is Horse Racing Trader?
Horse Racing Trader (HRT) is an AI-augmented trading terminal for the Betfair exchange. It combines a professional-grade execution interface โ a live price ladder, order management, and position tracking โ with a layer of real-time AI cognition built on large language models from Anthropic's Claude family.
The platform was built by Bug Hutch Ltd for serious racing traders: people who approach the Betfair exchange as a financial market, not a bet-placing interface. If you are looking for race tips, automated betting systems, or a way to "beat the bookies", this is not the right product for you.
What HRT actually does
At its core, HRT does two things well.
First, it gives you a fast, clean execution environment for trading Betfair racing markets. The ladder interface surfaces the price at every level, queue depth on both sides of the book, and your live position โ all updating in real time.
Second, it runs a suite of AI engines that read the live order book and produce structured analysis of market microstructure. These engines do not tell you what to trade. They describe what is happening โ liquidity shifts, order book compression, anomalous steam moves, pre-race behavioural patterns โ and leave the trading decision entirely to you.
What HRT is not
- Not a tipster. HRT contains no form data, no ratings, and no selections. The AI reads the price ladder, not racing form.
- Not autonomous. No order is ever placed without you clicking a button. There is no bot mode, no auto-trading, and no background execution.
- Not gambling advice. Nothing produced by the platform constitutes advice to back or lay any runner. AI output is structural market commentary only.
How it differs from Bet Angel and Geeks Toy
Bet Angel and Geeks Toy are mature, respected tools. HRT is not trying to replicate them. The differences that matter most:
- AI engines. No other retail Betfair tool runs Opus-class LLMs against live order book data to produce per-market structural analysis.
- Modern interface. HRT's trading terminal was designed from scratch with Bloomberg-grade information density in mind โ compact, readable, and responsive across screen sizes.
- No legacy baggage. HRT was built on a contemporary stack (Next.js App Router, Supabase, Stripe) with a single focus: racing markets on Betfair.
HRT is a professional tool for informed traders. It provides analysis of market structure, not recommendations. You are responsible for every order you place.
